Bettina Gray is currently Composer-in-Residence with Slavyanka Chorus of San Francisco. She has composed and arranged for choral, instrumental, and electronic media as well as for television and theater, and has judged international composition competitions, most recently the Kastalsky International Choral Competition sponsored by Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory.

Musical Background:


Ms. Gray’s music studies from childhood include piano, voice, clarinet, guitar and violin, with an undergraduate degree in voice. Her post-graduate studies include work with renowned teachers including composition with David Sheinfeld, private studies in piano with Roy Bogas and choral writing with Ēriks Ešenvalds and Steven Sametz. Having pioneered experimental, 3-D music with London’s Memoir of the Century arts exhibit, written music for bowed vibraphone and choir, for kazoo and washtub bass, for synthesizer and violin, her compositions cover a wide range of styles and instruments with an eclectic and adventurous taste.  International performances include London, Portugal, Costa Rica, and the US.

Recipient of the Interfaith Visionary Award from Temple of Understanding in New York, Bettina Gray has consulted and lectured on pluralism, interfaith dialogue, and global security in North America, Europe, India, Korea and Australia. She is co-founder of the North American Interfaith Network (NAIN).
